Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov met at the Russian Foreign Ministry with Faleh al-Fayad, the National Security Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, who is in Moscow on a working visit.
During the conversation, the officials exchanged views on current issues on the Middle East agenda with a focus on the situation in Syria and Iraq.
The parties stressed the need for further consolidation of efforts to ensure security and stability in the region and to counter international terrorism in the face of ISIS (outlawed in Russia) and other extremist structures.
"At the same time, the Russian side reiterated its principled position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of friendly Iraq", - the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
