Russia delivered 1,775 tons of humanitarian cargo to Syria in 2021

Russia sent 1,775 tons of humanitarian cargo to Syria during 2021, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of Russia's National Defense Management Center (NDMC), said during a meeting of Russian and Syrian interagency coordination headquarters.


"Thanks to the active position of the federal executive authorities, subjects and organizations of the Russian Federation, 1,775 tons of humanitarian cargo were delivered to Syria in 2021, which included electric generators, medical equipment, medicines, food, school supplies, clothes and other essentials," the general said.


The head of the NDMC specified that 183 humanitarian actions were carried out in Syria during the year, covering almost the entire territory of the country.


He added that in July and November, Russian interagency delegations visited Syria, which was attended by representatives of 22 ministries and departments, 23 entities and 18 organizations.


Mizintsev heads the Russian interagency coordination headquarters for the return of refugees to Syria. The meeting of the Russian and Syrian headquarters was held via videoconferencing.
