The Russian Federation has donated a total of 575,000 doses of hepatitis B vaccines as well as over 220,000 different rapid tests to Kyrgyzstan during 2022, the Russian embassy in Bishkek told TASS on Wednesday.
"During 2022, Russia transferred to Kyrgyzstan 350,000 doses of hepatitis B vaccines, 225,000 rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C," said a representative of the embassy.
In addition, this year the Russian Federation donated to the Kyrgyz side a special vehicle "Vaccinator" and a mobile clinic on the basis of "Kamaz", which has already started working in the Naryn region. The embassy assured that two more mobile clinics would arrive in Kyrgyzstan before the end of December.
In total, the Russian diplomatic mission reminded that during eight years, nine mobile clinics were delivered to the republic from the Russian Federation free of charge. The embassy assured that the vaccines and medical equipment are part of Russia's program to help countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia fight AIDS and other infectious diseases.
Thanks to Russian assistance, a campaign to vaccinate the adult population against hepatitis B began in Kyrgyzstan on December 14. Representatives of the ministry of health of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federal service for the oversight of consumer protection and welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), and the Russian embassy in Bishkek participated in the opening ceremony.
The center for health promotion of Kyrgyzstan told TASS that vaccination of adults against hepatitis B will be conducted in family medicine centers (polyclinics) in the country.
