Russia exchanges travel company lists with China and Iran to facilitate visa-free group tours

06 July 2023

Russia has successfully completed the exchange of lists of tourist organizations with China and Iran, marking a significant step toward the prompt initiation of visa-free group tours between the countries. The Russian Ministry of economic development confirmed this in a press release.

According to the statement, Russia has fulfilled the necessary procedures for exchanging lists of tourist organizations with China and Iran, which are essential for the swift implementation of bilateral intergovernmental agreements enabling visa-free group tourist trips.

In the near future, the Ministry of economic development will conduct a series of webinars to inform the participants of the agreements and representatives from the Russian tourism industry about the rules and guidelines for implementing the visa-free group tourist exchange mechanism. The ministry has made information materials, instructions, standard documents and lists of Russian tour operators authorized to operate under the intergovernmental agreements with China and Iran available on its website.

Previously, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov had expressed his optimism that visa-free group tours between Russia and China could resume as early as July 2023. The minister also emphasized Russia's commitment to expediting the resumption of group visa-free tour exchanges with Iran.
