Russia expects President of Uzbekistan to participate in Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

Moscow expects Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to participate in the enlarged meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 24-25, the Russian foreign ministry said.

 

"We expect the participation of Uzbekistan's president in the enlarged meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 24-25," the Russian foreign ministry said in the statement issued on Monday ahead of the meeting between Russian and Uzbek Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Bakhtiyor Saidov.

 

According to the ministry, the Russian side is satisfied with the level of interaction with Uzbekistan in the CIS. "We are ready to develop integration ties within the organization in all directions. We expect for the further active participation of Tashkent within the Commonwealth," - stressed the foreign ministry. - "It is important to continue the implementation of joint projects within the framework of such integration associations like EEC, CIS and SCO."

 

The diplomatic mission pointed out that Russia actively cooperates with Uzbekistan as an observer within the EEU. "There is a high level of cooperation between our countries on the UN platform, which is based on the proximity of approaches to regional and international agendas," the ministry added.
