Russia is deeply concern over the alarming levels of tension in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Indeed, the level of tension, escalation is off the scale. This cannot but be a matter of concern," he said. He specifically highlighted the interconnected nature of the crisis, pointing to the ongoing turmoil surrounding Gaza as a contributing factor to the rising tensions in the broader region.
"We have expressed concern from the beginning that this conflict could have a tendency to widen. Unfortunately, we are seeing some signs of this now," Peskov added.
Despite the challenges, Peskov conveyed Moscow's appeal for all countries in the region to exercise restraint. He urged, "We call on all sides, all states of the region and adjacent regions to restraint and to, let's say, choose diplomacy. In this case, this is the only thing that can help."
