Russia has offered Iran assistance in fighting the spread of the coronavirus

Russia is ready to render help in curbing the spread of the infection, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said in a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic Hassan Rouhani. The conversation, according to the Kremlin, was initiated by the Iranian side.


The two leaders also touched upon the situation surrounding the nuclear deal.


Detailed consideration was given to the developments in Syria in the context of increasing tension in the Idlib de-escalation zone.


"The parties expressed their shared opinion that the full implementation of the Astana format agreements is needed concerning, primarily, the fight against terrorists, with respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity", the message reads.


According to the latest data, 593 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Iran, 43 of them with a fatal outcome.
