Moscow hopes that the incident with the Indian missile hitting the territory of Pakistan will not lead to complications in the relations between the two countries and continues to monitor the situation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"We have seen and recorded statements by the Indian Defense Ministry that the missile launch was due to a technical malfunction. This is the official position of the country. We express our sincere hope that this incident will not lead to complications in relations between the two countries," she said.
The diplomat also noted that the Russian foreign ministry is "monitoring this situation.
On March 9, a missile was launched in India. It fell in Pakistan, 124 kilometers from the border of the two countries. The missile, which had no warhead, did not cause any casualties. In connection with the incident, the Pakistani MFA made an official protest to India.
