Russia, Iran and Turkey to prepare for a new trilateral summit on Syria

Russia, Iran and Turkey are working to agree on the date of the next trilateral summit on the Syrian settlement.

 

“The parties are working to agree on the date of the summit. As soon as an agreement is reached between the three countries, the date of the summit will be announced,  "TASS reports with reference to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

 

Yesterday, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that the summit of the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey could be held in Tehran in early March if the Turkish leadership confirms.

 

The previous - the fifth  - trilateral meeting of the presidents of the countries - guarantors of the Astana process for promoting the Syrian settlement took place in September 2019 in Ankara.
