Russia is determined to deliver Su-35 fighters to Indonesia

21 July 2021

Russia is determined to supply a batch of Su-35 multi-role fighters to Indonesia in spite of the pressure being exerted on this country, Valeria Reshetnikova, press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), told TASS during the MAKS-2021 air show.

"The project to supply Jakarta with 11 Su-35 multi-role fighters from the very beginning attracted close attention of the world community. Not surprisingly, after it was signed, the Indonesian side faced active pressure from representatives of individual countries. Jakarta was strongly "recommended" at all possible levels to abandon the project. However, we confidently declare that the Russian side is ready to implement this contract", said Reshetnikova.

According to her, Russia considers Indonesia as one of the key partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

The signing of the contract with Jakarta for the delivery of 11 Su-35 fighters became known in early 2018, but to date, its implementation has not begun.

The MAKS-2021 air show is taking place in Zhukovsky near Moscow from July 20 to 25.
