Russia plans to send a new batch of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan by the end of the year, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
She recalled that the second batch of Russian humanitarian aid to Afghanistan was delivered in early December. The first batch was sent in November.
"We also plan to send another batch of humanitarian aid by the end of the year," Zakharova said during a briefing. She also said Moscow supports the World Bank's decision to allocate $280 million from frozen funds to the UN World Food Program and UNICEF to help Afghanistan, but considered the measure taken insufficient and called for unfreezing the funds - more than $1 billion.
According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Afghan authorities need resources to establish economic life and rebuild infrastructure.
