Russian diplomats in Afghanistan handed over humanitarian aid (food, medicine, and educational materials) to an orphanage in Kabul. This was stated in an interview for RIA Novosti by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Afghanistan, Vyacheslav Nekrasov.

Russian aid, he said, was donated to the children of the Imam Bukhari private orphanage, which was founded six years ago by Dr. Saheb Suleiman, a prominent representative of the Nesari clan.

"It is impossible not to support such good and necessary deeds. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, employees of the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan held a charity lawn tennis tournament, which attracted several tens of thousands of Afghani (local currency – ed.). A significant amount, in particular, was donated by the former Russian Ambassador to Kabul, Alexander Mantytsky, " the Agency quoted Nekrasov as saying.

"The proceeds were used to purchase flour, rice, sugar, butter, confectionery, medicines, and textbooks. The truck with the help received was received with great gratitude by all the staff of the orphanage, headed by Dr. Suleiman. After a warm and interested conversation, a joint decision was made to continue cooperation, " the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo added.

It is noted that the orphanage that received humanitarian aid is a large educational center for children, which educates more than 800 children aged 6 to 14 years.

Many of them, according to Nekrasov, do not have parents and live directly in classrooms.

"Others have fathers with disabilities or drug addicts who themselves need help, and therefore 350 children take home free meals every day," the diplomat said.
