Russia provides $103.2 million in development aid to Tajikistan in 2021

Tajikistan in 2021 became one of the largest recipients of Russian development assistance to the country through the implementation of projects worth $103.2 million, the press service of the Russian embassy in Dushanbe reported on Tuesday.


"In 2021, the Russian aid for development, in accordance with the methodology of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - TASS), amounted to $ 192.1 million, of which $103.2 million were allocated for projects to promote the development of Tajikistan," the report reads.


As it was specified in the embassy, $77 million were allocated for the construction of five Russian-language schools in Tajikistan and $10.5 million for the school feeding program of the WFP. Another $4.2 million were allocated to support the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University.


Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, DPRK, Uzbekistan, Nicaragua, India, and Armenia are also among the largest recipients of Russian development assistance.
