Moscow, Ankara and Doha call on the World Health Organization (WHO) to prioritize the issue of vaccination in Syria. This was said in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Turkey and Qatar following Thursday's discussion of the Syrian settlement process in Doha.

"The Ministers expressed deep concern about the situation in Syria and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a serious challenge to the health system in Syria and to the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in the country as a whole. In this regard, called on the UN and its agencies, in particular the World Health Organization, to prioritize the issue of vaccination in Syria, including through the COVAX initiative," the document said.

The Foreign Ministers said humanitarian aid should be provided to all Syrians without discrimination, politicization and preconditions, and called on the UN and its humanitarian agencies to step up their efforts in this direction.

Moscow, Ankara and Doha confirmed their readiness to support the efforts of UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.

"The Ministers reiterated their position in favor of facilitating the work of the constitutional committee by supporting the efforts of UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Syria Geir Pedersen through constant interaction with the Syrian parties and members of the constitutional committee in order to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of its work on the preparation of constitutional reform," the document said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following the meeting that the sides agreed to use their opportunities "to ensure that the next meeting of the drafting committee of the constitutional committee, which should take place before the beginning of the month of Ramadan [mid-April], will be productive".
