Russia sent humanitarian aid to Zimbabwe

12 March 2020

As part of its contribution to the UN World Food Programme for 2019, Russia provided humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Zimbabwe in the amount of $ 1.5 million, delivering food to the country's population affected by the consequences of the recent drought.

The solemn delivery of more than 1,000 tons of Russian humanitarian cargo - wheat, legumes and vegetable oil - to the Zimbabwean side took place on March 11 in Harare with the participation of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation and representatives of the government of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean side expressed gratitude to the Russian leadership for the timely support provided and stressed that this friendly gesture is a clear manifestation of fraternal relations between countries and peoples and will serve to further strengthen them.
