Moscow has expressed its interest in the idea put forth by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to create a joint investment fund within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Russian President's Special Representative for SCO Affairs Bakhtiyor Khakimov told a briefing on Wednesday.
Khakimov stated that Russia finds the proposal intriguing and is now eagerly anticipating specific proposals to materialize the concept.
Tokayev had previously suggested the establishment of a joint investment fund at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State.
According to him, the Astana International Financial Center holds significant potential to serve as an effective platform for fostering investments in the region. The center incorporates best practices from global financial institutions, making it an ideal facilitator for directing investments towards SCO projects.
