Russia to allocate $1 million to the WHO to fight coronavirus

07 April 2020

Russia will allocate $ 1 million to the World Health Organization to fight the coronavirus. As noted in the published decree of the government, this is a one-time voluntary earmarked contribution.

The WHO budget is formed by mandatory contributions from participating countries and voluntary donations.

The amount of each state's mandatory contribution is calculated according to the country's wealth and population.

This fiscal year, Russia's mandatory contributions should amount to $5.7 million, while the US, for comparison, should amount to $57.8 million.
