Russia begins construction of a modern border outpost on the Tajik-Afghan border in Tajikistan, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov said in response to a TASS reporter's question during a press conference on Monday.

He also specified that within the framework of these decisions the Russian party has made several deliveries of armament to the Armed Forces of Tajikistan.

According to him, the 201st Russian military base stationed in Tajikistan is "actively upgrading," it is being equipped with the most modern equipment and a number of exercises and maneuvers are held, during the year there were conducted about 40 exercises. He noted that the Russian base conducts bilateral exercises with Tajik partners and multilateral - within the framework of the CSTO - with participation of other countries, calling the level of preparation high. "This issue (security on the Tajik-Afghan border - TASS) will be given increased attention," summarized the ambassador.
