Russia plans to open consulates general in the Maldives, Bali (Indonesia), as well as in Grodno, Aktau and Samarkand, said Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the ministry has outlined steps to strengthen the consular presence of the Russian Federation in regions with large Russian diasporas, as well as popular among tourists - the focus will be on the CIS countries, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
"In concrete terms, the issues of opening consulates general of Russia in Grodno (Belarus), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Male (Maldives) and Denpasar (Bali Island, Indonesia) are currently being studied," Ivanov said.
