Russia, Turkey and Iran have agreed to hold a meeting in the Astana format soon

Russia, Turkey and Iran have declared their readiness to hold the next meeting on Syria in the Astana format in the near future, a joint statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday following consultations in Geneva reads.


"We have confirmed our determination to hold the next international meeting on Syria in the Astana format as soon as possible," the communique says. - [The parties] confirmed their determination to fight all forms and manifestations of terrorism and to resist the separatist agenda, which may damage the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as the national security of neighboring countries. They also agreed to continue working together to completely destroy terrorist groups such as ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda (banned in Russia) and other groups associated with them and recognized as terrorist by the UN."


Russia, Turkey and Iran also condemned the oil deal between the US and the Syrian Kurds, "Israel's military attacks on Syria", as well as "unilateral sanctions adopted against the backdrop of a pandemic".
