Russia welcomes the desire of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to hold a meeting in Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told reporters on Wednesday.

"We have seen these reports. We welcome the leaders' desire to meet and seek peace," the diplomat said, answering a relevant question from TASS.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan earlier in an interview with TASS said they were ready for negotiations in Moscow to resolve the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Answering the agency's question, Aliyev said he was ready "to meet both in Moscow and in any other place in order to end the confrontation and find a solution", but noted that "he did not receive such an invitation". In turn, Pashinyan also stressed in his conversation with TASS that he was ready to make all necessary efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, "including going, meeting and talking".
