Moscow welcomes theLibyan Political Dialogue Forum, which began on Monday in Tunis under the patronage of the UN Support Mission in Libya, the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.
"We welcome the launch of inter-Libyan dialogue in the Tunisian capital, designed to end the division of the country into warring camps, to help overcome the protracted military and political crisis and the formation of new effective national authorities capable of ensuring the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya," the ministry said. - "Wishing success to the forum, we call on its participants to put the interests of the Libyan people above the narrow-party and regional considerations.
The negotiations are attended by 75 delegates representing different regions of the country. They will discuss the formation of unified transitional authorities and further holding of presidential and parliamentary elections.
Libya has had two parallel executive bodies for several years: the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Fayez Sarraj in Tripoli and the Libyan National Army (LNA) supported by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar's interim cabinet in the east.
