Russian Ambassador Expresses Concern Over Deteriorating Situation on Lebanese-Israeli Border

10 January

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov voiced concerns about the escalating situation on the border between Lebanon and Israel during an interview on the TV channel "Russia-24."

"The situation in southern Lebanon is steadily degenerating, and it is noticeable that the sides have intensified strikes against each other," Rudakov remarked when asked to comment on the situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Highlighting the recent developments, the diplomat noted,  that "in recent days, the fighting has begun to reach a more alarming level." He emphasized that "strikes are being carried out in areas remote from the border area," and unfortunately, "the general outlook is still negative."

Describing southern Lebanon as a "kind of dead zone," Rudakov stated, "Not only were tens of thousands of Lebanese citizens forced to leave these areas, but now they have nowhere to return to, in fact, because most of the housing stock is either destroyed or requires serious overhaul."
