09 February

Russian Ambassador to Dushanbe Semyon Grigoriev emphasized the increasing collaboration between more than 75 Russian subjects and Tajikistan's regions, anticipating intensified contacts in 2024. In an interview with Tajik government publication Narodnaya Gazeta, Grigoriev outlined the robust engagement between various regions of both countries.

"Over 75 Russian subjects are directly engaged with Tajik partners. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and several other regions lead in interregional cooperation," stated Grigoriev. He highlighted trade and economic ties as pivotal, reinforcing Russia's position as Tajikistan's principal trade and economic ally.

Grigoriev recalled Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon's official visit to Moscow in November 2023, underscoring the fruitful discussions between President Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin. "President Rahmon's remarks upon departure from Moscow reflected the positive outcome of his discussions with President Putin, emphasizing that only minor details remained to be resolved," noted Grigoriev.

During his visit, Rahmon emphasized Tajikistan's commitment to bolstering inter-regional relations, foreseeing expanded cooperation to enhance bilateral trade and economic ties. The bilateral trade turnover exceeded $1.7 billion by the end of 2023, marking a historic milestone in economic collaboration between the two nations.
