Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan do everything necessary to develop the integration processes, including within the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko said on Friday in Bishkek during the conference of Russian compatriots "Russian Compatriots in Kyrgyzstan: New Realities of the Russian World."
"We take all measures to accelerate the development of our integration within the EEU and CSTO," he said.
According to him, sanctions imposed on Russia by a number of states have a negative impact on Kyrgyzstan. "There is still pressure on Russia's allies," continued the ambassador. At the same time, he acknowledged that after the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by some states, there is now a "more favorable situation" in Kyrgyzstan.
Udovichenko also emphasized that Moscow and Bishkek have strong allied relations.
The participants in Friday's conference in Bishkek are discussing the upcoming events in honor of the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the promotion of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan and legal security. The theme of "the consolidation of compatriots in the new conditions" and activities connected with the announcement of the regional center of Karakol, the Kyrgyz Republic, as the cultural capital of the CIS this year, are also discussed.
According to the latest data, about 6.7 million people living in Kyrgyzstan, about 300-350 thousand of which are ethnic Russians.
