Russia is aimed at further development of relations with Azerbaijan, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"The signing of the declaration on allied cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan brings relations between the countries to a new sustainable level," the diplomat said.
According to Bocharnikov, Baku and Moscow are interested in ensuring peace and security in the region.
"Russia is aimed at further development of allied relations between the countries, friendship, good neighborliness," he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration on allied cooperation on February 22 following talks in the Kremlin. As Putin noted, the document was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.
