Russian Ambassador to Jordan talks about the demand for Sputnik V in the country

The Jordanian authorities are interested in additional supplies of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V, it is in demand in the kingdom, Russian Ambassador to Amman Gleb Desyatnikov told RIA Novosti.


According to the head of the diplomatic mission, Jordan now regularly receives batches of Russian vaccine, an increase in volumes will become possible after the conclusion of a direct contract between the Jordanian authorities and the RDIF.


"Jordanian partners have expressed interest in purchasing additional batches of our vaccine, which is in good demand in the kingdom," Desyatnikov said.


Since the start of the pandemic, more than 735,000 cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in Jordan, and more than 9,452 infected people have died.


A mass vaccination campaign was launched in the kingdom on January 13. The coronavirus vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinopharm and a Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine were approved for use. In March 2021, the Jordanian regulator approved the emergency use of the Russian Sputnik V. In April, the Jordanian Ministry of Health announced the start of vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
