Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov has emphasized the need for Eurasian nations to unite, not only through trade and economic ties but also by fostering a shared worldview for the future. Speaking at the international roundtable "Eurasianism: A Shared Vision," held in Ankara, Yerkhov highlighted the cultural and historical connections that bind the region.
The event was organized by Ankara University, Rossotrudnichestvo, and the Evgeny Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation.
Yerkhov noted that the concept of Eurasianism holds particular significance for the nations involved. He pointed out that existing integration initiatives, such as the Eurasian Economic Union, underline the importance of cooperation beyond economic and cultural exchanges, focusing instead on developing a unified Eurasian worldview rooted in shared cultural values.
The ambassador also addressed migration issues, asserting that migration, when managed effectively, can be beneficial. However, he cautioned against ignoring imbalances and referred to Western Europe as a cautionary example. "It is essential to establish fair and universally respected rules in this area, always upholding the mutual respect that characterizes our shared Eurasian cultural identity," he said.
The roundtable brought together experts in global economics and international relations from Russia, Turkey, and other Eurasian countries. The discussions centered on the book Eurasianism: A Shared Vision, edited by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and recently translated into Turkish.
