Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed by telephone with Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan the problems of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement and the implementation of the trilateral statement on Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement reads.
"The sides continued exchanging views on current issues of the bilateral, regional and international agenda. Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in the context of the implementation of the provisions of the statement signed on November 9, 2020, by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia," the text reads.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on the full cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Russian leader, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides are stopping at their occupied positions and Russian peacekeepers are being deployed in the region.
After Russian peacekeepers were deployed, the situation in Karabakh stabilized. Tens of thousands of Karabakh residents who left their homes during the hostilities returned with the help of the peacekeeping contingent.
