Russian and Italian Foreign and defense Ministers to discuss Syria and Libya

Today, on February 18, the fourth meeting of the Foreign and Defense Ministers of Russia and Italy will be held in Rome in the 2+2 format.


According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting "is intended to ensure continuity in the bilateral political dialogue, to help strengthen the comprehensive Russian-Italian partnership, and to further deepen ties in the military and military-technical spheres".


"During the 2+2 session, the parties will  exchange views on key issues on the international agenda, outlining the main guidelines for cooperation between Russia and Italy in the foreign policy and military fields. In particular, the parties will compare positions on issues of strategic stability and arms control, non-proliferation and prevention of an arms race in outer space. It is planned to discuss regional problems, including the situation in North Africa and the Middle East, in Libya, Syria, and Ukraine", the message reads.
