In a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council's open debate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Abdullah al-Yahya, discussed the ongoing situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers "shared their opinions on topics of common interest on the international and Middle East agenda, with a focus on the development of the situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict." The statement emphasized the importance of continued close coordination between Moscow and Kuwait to promote a political and diplomatic settlement of regional conflicts.
The meeting also saw an affirmation of the mutual desire to further develop political dialogue and Russian-Kuwaiti relations in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The Russian diplomatic department noted that the "main reference point in this regard remains the agreements reached in the course of contacts at the highest level."
