Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin engaged in discussions concerning security matters in Syria and the situation in Ukraine with his counterpart, Defense Minister Ali Mahmoud Abbas of the Arab Republic. These discussions took place during the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2023" and were later reported by the Russian defense ministry.
"The talks encompassed a range of pertinent topics, including bilateral military and military-technical cooperation. The officials exchanged views and assessments regarding the ongoing situations in Syria and Ukraine. The significance of continued collaborative efforts aimed at upholding stability within the Syrian Arab Republic was underscored," the ministry reported.
The Russian defense ministry described the meeting as taking place in an amicable atmosphere and expressed a mutual commitment to advancing Russian-Syrian cooperation in the realms of defense and counter-terrorism.
