Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which are celebrated today, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.
"April 8 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan. On the occasion of this landmark date, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Tajik Foreign Minister Mukhriddin exchanged congratulatory messages," the Russian diplomatic office said.
The ministers stressed that the fruitful work of the two countries allowed to solve many important issues in various spheres of interaction. "Such cooperation has a beneficial effect on the situation in the entire Central Asian region. Moscow and Dushanbe approach the issues of indivisibility of security, ensuring stability and sustainable development in the Eurasian space with common positions," Smolensk Square added.
"The privileged nature of relations is evidenced by regular confidential consultations through the heads of foreign ministries, parliaments, heads of almost all ministries and agencies," the Russian foreign ministry said.
Humanitarian and economic spheres of the cooperation also demonstrate a stable development. "Russia retains the leading position in the investment activities in Tajikistan, there is successful cooperation in the fuel and energy and telecommunications industries," pointed out the diplomatic mission. - "Humanitarian side of the bilateral relations has a separate meaning. More than 30 thousand students from Tajikistan study in Russian universities, about half of them get education free of charge thanks to quotas allocated by Russia".
