Russian and Tunisian Foreign Ministers discussed cooperation between the two countries

Today, on May 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Tunisian Foreign Minister Noureddine Erray.


During the conversation initiated by the Tunisian side, the state and prospects for the development of Russian-Tunisian relations, including the activities of the bilateral intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, were discussed.


"Practical issues of coordination at the UN Security Council, where Tunisia is a non-permanent member in 2020-2021, are considered. The Russian side confirmed its readiness to support the consensus adoption of the draft UN Security Council resolution on the fight against the coronavirus submitted by Tunisia and France," the message reads.


When discussing regional issues, the main attention was paid to the situation in Libya and the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, taking into account the position of the Arab League and the responsibility of the "Quartet" of international mediators.
