Russian corvette and tanker completed the crossing of the Suez Canal

The Baltic Fleet's corvette "Stoykiy" and tanker "Kola," performing the tasks of a long-distance voyage, have completed the passage of the Suez Canal. This is stated in a message issued on Wednesday by the press service of the fleet.


"The Russian warship and tanker, which are on a long-distance voyage, having completed the passage of the Suez Canal, set a course for the Syrian port of Tartus. There, during the call in the next few days, they will replenish water and food supplies to the required norms, as well as carry out routine preventive inspections of the ships," the press service reported.


It is noted that during the sailing in the Indian Ocean the crew of corvette "Stoykiy" held dozens of different exercises, maneuvers on air defense and antisubmarine defense, antiterrorist groups on board worked off anti-piracy exercises. Business calls have been made to the ports of Iran and Oman.


The Baltic Fleet detachment of ships consisting of corvette "Stoykiy", medium-sized sea tanker "Kola" and sea tug "Yakov Grebelsky" put to sea from the permanent basing point in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region to perform planned tasks of a long-distance voyage on December 16, 2020.
