The information about the encirclement of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh by either side does not correspond to reality, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.

Earlier, Radio Azatutyun reported on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that Russian peacekeepers are surrounded by Azerbaijani troops in the area of the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd in the Hadrut district.

"The information about the alleged encirclement of units of Russian peacekeeping forces by any party in Nagorno-Karabakh does not correspond to reality," the military department noted.

The Defense Ministry specified that subunits of Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh fulfill their tasks in a regular mode both at observation posts and during monitoring of the ceasefire regime observance. "The ceasefire regime is observed along the entire line of contact," the ministry stressed.

"The headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping contingent interacts continuously with the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia through direct communication channels to ensure the fulfillment of peacekeeping tasks and prevent possible incidents," the Russian Defense Ministry added.
