29 December 2021

On December 28, Israeli Air Force fighters attacked the port of Latakia. Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, deputy head of the Russian Center for the reconciliation of the warring parties in the Syrian Arab Republic, said this at a briefing.

"On December 28, from 04:21 to 04:26, two F-16 tactical fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force from the Mediterranean Sea without crossing the border struck four guided missiles at the facilities on the territory of the port of Latakia. The Israeli strike caused minor material damage to the port infrastructure," he said.

According to him, Syrian Air Defense forces did not engage in anti-aircraft fighting, because at the moment of the strike an aircraft of Russian Air Force was coming in to land at the airfield at Khmeimim.

There were no casualties among the personnel of the SAR Armed Forces.
