Russian Deputy Foreign Minister clarifies goals of special operation to Turkish Ambassador

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin discussed with Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Mehmet Samsar the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, as well as the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. The Russian diplomatic office said in a statement on Tuesday.

 

"An in-depth exchange of views on the current situation in Ukraine and the Transcaucasus took place. The sides stated their mutual intention to make further efforts in the interests of strengthening peace and stability in these regions, including the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish relations," the Russian foreign ministry pointed out.

 

As noted in Smolensk Square, the Russian side once again clarified in detail the reasons and goals of the special military operation related "to the need to stop the threats to Russia's security coming from Ukraine, inspired by the collective West led by the United States."

 

"Galuzin again expressed his condolences in connection with the consequences of the earthquake in Turkey, which caused many deaths," the ministry said. - "The conversation took place in a constructive atmosphere typical of Russian-Turkish relations".

 

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Kahramanmaras province in southeastern Turkey on Monday. The earth tremors, followed by about 300 aftershocks, were felt in 10 provinces of the country, as well as in neighboring states, including Syria. After a while a new powerful strike was recorded. According to the latest data, more than 3.5 thousand people were killed in Turkey and more than 20.5 thousand people were wounded. According to the information of Syrian ministry of health, over 800 people became victims of the disaster, and more than 1.4 thousand people were injured.
