Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kuwait Majdi Al-Dhafiri discussed over the phone Kuwaiti initiatives to resolve the socio-economic crisis in Lebanon.
"During the conversation, Majdi Al-Dhafiri informed about Kuwait's initiative proposals to resolve the socio-economic crisis in Lebanon, including the results of the LAS (Arab League - TASS) consultative meeting in Kuwait with representatives of the Lebanese leadership," the Russian MFA said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The foreign ministry noted that the Russian side expressed its support for the efforts of Kuwait in the interests of normalizing the situation in Lebanon, reaffirming Moscow's consistent position "in favor of the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence" of Lebanon, and also in favor of addressing all issues on the national agenda through "an inclusive dialogue involving all political and confessional forces of the country."
"They also touched upon topical issues of further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Kuwaiti relations," the ministry pointed out.
