Russian Deputy Foreign Minister discussed strengthening bilateral ties with the outgoing Syrian ambassador

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin received Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad on the occasion of completing his mission in Russia. This was stated in a statement from the Russian MFA released on Friday.


"During the meeting, the mutual intention to strengthen traditionally friendly Russian-Syrian relations was confirmed. The importance of coordinating Moscow and Damascus approaches to solving regional and international problems was stressed," Smolensk Square informed.


The meeting was held on Thursday, October 27, at the request of a Syrian diplomat.


On October 5 it became known that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad swore in the new ambassador to Russia, Bashar Jaafari, who had been deputy foreign minister before his appointment to Moscow.
