Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Discusses Resolving Ongoing Crisis in Africa with Sudanese Finance Minister

Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov recently held discussions with Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of the Republic of Sudan and leader of the Justice and Equality Movement. The talks aimed to address the persistent crisis in the African country, as detailed in the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

 

The report highlights that the primary focus of the extensive conversation was on finding a resolution to the severe military-political crisis that has persisted in Sudan since April 2023. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation emphasized, "In the course of a detailed conversation, the main attention was paid to the problem of settling the acute military-political crisis continuing in Sudan since April 2023. At the same time, the Russian side reaffirmed its principled position on the need for an early cessation of hostilities between regular army units and rapid reaction forces and the establishment of an inclusive inter-Sudanese dialog in the interests of ensuring the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of the Republic of Sudan."

 

 

The ministry further elaborated on the meeting, noting that various pressing issues related to the continued development of the longstanding and amicable Russian-Sudanese ties were also addressed. This encompassed discussions on promising areas of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation.
