Russian Deputy Prime Minister Borisov arrives in Iraq to participate in bilateral intergovernmental commission

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday, Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahhaf said.


"Russian Deputy Prime Minister and co-chairman of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation Yuri Borisov arrived in Baghdad on an official visit," he said. On Thursday, he will hold talks with Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, who heads the Iraqi side of the intergovernmental commission. The IGC will also hold a regular meeting.


The last meeting of the bilateral commission was held in Moscow in November last year. Among the priority areas of Russian-Iraqi cooperation are projects in the fields of energy, industry, trade, transport and agriculture.
