Russian Deputy Prosecutor-General meets with the leadership of the Syrian Defense Ministry

Deputy Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation - chief military Prosecutor Valery Petrov visited Syria, where he met with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the military justice bodies of this country, and also held a reception for military personnel at the Khmeimim Russian air base, a representative of the Russian group of troops in Syria told reporters.


"In the period from September 8 to 9, on behalf of the Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation, Deputy Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation - chief military Prosecutor, state adviser of justice of the first class Valery Petrov made a working visit to the Syrian Arab Republic. During the trip, meetings were held with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, the military justice bodies of the Syrian side, as well as familiarization with the organization of the functioning of the Russian aviation group," he said.

 

 

At the Khmeimim air base, the Prosecutor was met by the commander of the Russian group of troops in Syria, Lieutenant General Alexander Chaiko. Petrov held a reception for military personnel and answered their questions about social rights and guarantees.


The airbase also hosted an award ceremony for military Prosecutor's office employees who serve in Syria and document war crimes committed by militants. In addition, the military Prosecutor laid flowers at the monument to Russian soldiers who died during the military operation in Syria.
