Russian Embassy in Lebanon: we are operating in a normal mode

Employees of the Russian Embassy in Lebanon are working in a normal mode and are preparing for the arrival of the first board of the Ministry of Emergency situations as part of the Russian humanitarian operation coordinated with the Lebanese authorities, the adviser of the diplomatic mission Vyacheslav Maksudov told TASS.


"There are no changes in the activities of the Russian Embassy in Beirut, we are working in a normal mode," the diplomat said. "We are now preparing to receive an EMERCOM plane with a group of rescuers to conduct search and rescue operations in the destroyed buildings as a result of an explosion in the seaport."


According to Maksudov, five planes are expected to arrive.

 

 

The adviser spoke about the state of health of the Embassy employee who was injured on Tuesday. "The woman had a cut on her leg, now she is at home, feeling well," he said.


Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the leadership of Lebanon welcomed the Russian initiative to assist in eliminating the consequences of the explosion in Beirut and the parties are coordinating operational practical steps in preparation for the implementation of the Russian humanitarian operation in Lebanon, which should begin in the near future.


As stressed in the department, pursuant to the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, EMERCOM of Russia in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and Rospotrebnadzor are working on a plan to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of Lebanon in the aftermath of an explosion in Beirut. It was decided to send a group of rescuers to the capital of the Republic with the necessary equipment to conduct search and rescue operations in destroyed buildings, an airmobile hospital of the EMERCOM of Russia and a mobile PCR laboratory of Rospotrebnadzor.
