Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov has called cooperation with the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) rescue services effective and promising, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) to TASS.
“The cooperation between our emergency services is effective and holds great potential. Our Emirati colleagues are interested in the experience of Russian rescuers. Each country has its own specifics in organizing public and facility safety, and it's beneficial for us to learn from their innovations as well,” Kurenkov said, as cited by the ministry's press service.
From October 6 to 7, Kurenkov was on a working visit to the UAE. During his trip, he visited the UAE Civil Defense Academy, where demonstration exercises were held. The drills covered scenarios such as firefighting in high-rise buildings, dealing with fires at gas and oil storage facilities, chemical fires, traffic accidents, and tunnel incidents. In Dubai's Civil Defense Operations Center, the minister evaluated the use of artificial intelligence for disaster prevention and response.
“The UAE has developed an efficient fire and rescue service with extensive experience in responding to emergencies of various kinds, adhering to the highest international standards. The practical exercises confirm this once again. These risks are also relevant for our country,” Kurenkov concluded.
