Russian Emergencies Ministry convoy delivers a new batch of humanitarian aid to Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian rescuers have delivered a new batch of humanitarian aid to settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's press service told TASS on Friday.


"Fifteen trucks of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered the humanitarian aid that arrived by rail the day before to distribution points in Stepanakert, Martuni, Mardakert and Askeran. In total, 80 tons of cargo necessary to help the affected population," the ministry said.


The cargo includes power stations, building materials, fire tank trucks and household supplies. They will be distributed among the affected settlements.


Earlier, 1,200 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered by train to Armenia, which will be gradually sent to Nagorno-Karabakh.


On September 27, the situation escalated in Nagorno-Karabakh and active fighting broke out in the disputed territory. On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a joint statement on the full cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The document provides for the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the region. On November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on establishing an inter-departmental center of the humanitarian response to Nagorno-Karabakh. The center was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Security Service and other interested federal executive bodies. The Defense Ministry was entrusted with the solution of organizational issues. Russian rescuers arrived in the region on November 16.
