The air defense forces of the southern military district detected a P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft of the US Navy and a RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the US air force over the neutral waters of the Black sea, National Defense Management Center of Russia reports.
The planes were escorted, and two Su-27 fighters on duty were lifted into the air to intercept them.
American military aircraft did not violate the state border.
"The flights of Russian aircraft were carried out in strict accordance with International rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters, without violating the borders of other states," the National Defense Management Center concluded.
