Russian Foreign Ministry announced the date of new negotiations of the "Astana Troika"

21 April 2020

Negotiations between representatives of the so-called "Astana Troika" – Russia, Iran and Turkey - are scheduled for April 22. They will be held, as the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said RIA Novosti, in the format of a video conference.

"We confirm the holding of trilateral talks at the Ministerial level on Syria on April 22 in a remote version," the diplomat said, in particular.

Negotiations in the Astana format have been held since 2017. In January 2018, Sochi hosted the Congress of the Syrian National Dialogue, which was the first attempt since the beginning of the conflict to gather a wide range of participants at one negotiating platform.

The main result of the Congress was the decision to create a Constitutional Committee-it is working in Geneva to prepare a constitutional reform, which should be jointly carried out by representatives of the current authorities, the opposition and civil society.
