By withdrawing funding from the World Health Organization at a time of general danger due to the coronavirus pandemic, the US behaved unworthily, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told International Life magazine.
"...Now, when the tasks are to save lives, help governments and health systems to develop optimal methods in the fight against the pandemic, optimal techniques-maintaining social distance, quarantine regimes, self-isolation, and so on, in these conditions, it is at least not time to raise questions about the global system, relative to whether who is acting correctly or not. And to act as Washington does by suspending funding is, by and large, a kick in the teeth. This is an unworthy behavior, " the diplomat said, in particular.
US President Donald Trump announced the termination of the WHO funding on April 14, explaining the decision by the fact that the organization did not inform the world community about the coronavirus in a timely manner.
