Russian Foreign Ministry expresses its condolences over the death of people in Pakistan in a bus explosion

Russia expresses its condolences in connection with the death of people in Pakistan as a result of a bus explosion. This was said in a comment by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Thursday.


The incident happened on Wednesday in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The bus was carrying employees of a company engaged in the construction of a dam at the Dasu hydropower plant on the Indus River.


"As a result of the incident, nine Chinese citizens and four Pakistani citizens were killed and about 30 people were injured. According to the available data, there are no Russian citizens among the injured and the dead. We express our sympathy and support to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured," she said.


Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson pointed out that the cause of the crash was an explosion, the nature of which is being established. "According to the Pakistani authorities, a terrorist version of the accident is not excluded. We are counting on the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to conduct a thorough investigation of all the details of the tragic accident," she said.
